Travel from
Schoodic Point CG, Acadia NP to Stony Brook CG, Hanover, ME.
Stony Brook
Recreation and Campground, Hanover, ME.
We did a
couple of hikes while at Stony Brook CG.
The first one was on the Albany Notch trail in the White Mountain
National Forest.
It is less
than two miles to the summit but it took us three hours because almost the
entire trail has a series of steep inclines.
We stopped
half way up to eat lunch.
The views at
the top were spectacular.
The mosquitos were relentless. We had to stop several times to apply repellent.
The second
hike we did was at Grafton Notch State Park.
We heard that there was a good chance of spotting a moose at the park at
dusk.
Although we
didn’t end up seeing any moose we enjoyed the sunset hike.
We also visited
one of the many covered bridges in Maine.
The Sunday River Bridge, also known locally as the Artists Bridge, is a
historic covered bridge located in Newry.
Built in 1872, it is one of Maine’s few surviving 19th
century covered bridges.
