7/31/2017 Niagara Falls (part 3)

Prior to descending down the elevator to The Cave of the Winds we put on our souvenir sandals that have been specially designed to navigate the Hurricane Deck.
The elevator lets out at a tunnel.

We donned our rain ponchos

A series of redwood decks and platforms allow sightseers to walk right up to the base of the Bridal Veil Falls with water crashing down right on them and flowing beneath the decking.

The decking is removed each fall due to the potential damage caused by ice buildup at the falls and re-installed each spring.

The rushing Bridal Veil Falls create tropical storm-like conditions.
