May 1-6,
2018
As much as
we enjoyed our time work camping and visiting with family and friends, we were
so excited to be back on the road again.
Our first
stop was at Tire Choice to get the RV tires filled with nitrogen. Monte did some research and found out that
nitrogen is less likely to migrate through tire rubber than oxygen which means
the tire pressures will remain more stable.
We’ll see.
The first
few days were mostly spent traveling from one RV Park to another.
Arrowhead
Campground in Ocala, FL is has mostly full timers in units that have seen
better days.
The price was right for an
overnight stay.
Continuing
on the next day we stayed at Beaver Lake Campground in Quincy Fl. Easy off/on from I-10. Check in is at the gas station at the
entrance to the park which is basically a grass field.
They advertise clean, hot showers. But when we inquired about the showers we
were informed the bath house had been closed for quite some time because the
floor was rotted.
The next day
we crossed into Alabama and stayed the night at Wilderness RV Park in
Robertsdale.
The park was lovely.
We even took a dip in the pool with very cold
water.
On Friday we
crossed into Louisiana.
We stayed at
Martin Lake Resort in Biloxi for the weekend. At
the entrance to the park there are a row of cute cabins.
The campground was mostly filled with full
time residents.
During the
course of the weekend we took a paddleboat ride,
spent a few hours at the
Palace Casino
and visited the Davis Bayou at the Gulf Islands National
Seashore.
We had stayed in the
campground back in 2013. We would have
liked to stay there again but there was not one available site.
