Seaside Heights, NJ
Seaside Heights is situated on the Barnegat Peninsula, a long narrow barrier peninsula that separates Barnegat Bay from the Atlantic Ocean.
The area is a popular resort destination with a beach, amusement-orientated boardwalk with numerous clubs and bars.
Substantial portions of the boardwalk were damaged in October 2012 as a result of Hurricane Sandy.  The Casino Pier and Funtown Pier suffered major damage, with sections of both piers torn apart.
Powerful storm surges and waves caused many of the rides to collapse into the ocean.

The Jetstar roller coaster that fell into the water had become an attraction itself until it was taken apart by a wrecker.  Repairs to the boardwalk were completed on June 21, 2013.

One of the first things we noticed when we arrived on the boardwalk was all the clowns.
It was the 33rd Annual Clownfest weekend and their slogan was “Back to the Boardwalk” after two seasons away due to the damage done to the boardwalk due to Hurricane Sandy.
Clownfest helps clowns develop their skills.
This is the only event of its kind anywhere in the world.

I told Monte that I wanted a slice of pizza because I hadn’t had New York pizza in a long time.  I know we were in New Jersey but I thought a Jersey slice would be as good as a New York slice.  I was WRONG.  We paid $9.00 for two slices of pizza.  It was very disappointing.
