Thursday-Boring
day that including shopping at Camping World and Sam’s Club.
Friday-There
are two things I really dread: bathing suit shopping and going to the dentist
and I did both today!
Both Monte
and I were long overdue for a teeth cleaning. If we were closer to Algodones, Mexico we
would have considered going there because we have read really good reviews
about the services provided by the dentists.
But not wanting to drive over 200 miles to Algodones we made an
appointment with a local DC Dental office when we saw they were running a
special for new patients that included X-rays, exam and a cleaning for
$39.
Our
appointment was for 11AM. We were handed
a three page information sheet to fill out.
Because there was only one dentist working and she had a patient who
required an emergency extraction we were not called in for an hour.
After the
exam and X-rays we were both informed we needed additional work (we expected
this). I have a cracked tooth that
requires a crown and Monte has a couple of cavities. We were also informed we both needed a deeper
cleaning than the standard cleaning offered with the special price but we
insisted we only wanted the service we came in for.
All in all
we were happy with the service we received at DC Dental. We may consider going to Algodones for the
work we need next year when we are in this area again.
Our next
stop after the dentist was to Walgreens for our flu shots. Last year we kept putting it off and then had
a difficult time finding a place that had the shot available. Our wait time was less than half hour.
After a
quick lunch at Taco Bell I went in search of a bathing suit. UGH!
BUT, surprisingly, it wasn’t as painful as it usually is and I was
actually faced with the dilemma of having to choose between two suits that
looked half way decent on me. I must
have tried each one on five times before deciding I couldn’t decide and ended
up purchasing both of them.
Saturday-Another lazy day. In the afternoon we stopped at Fry’s to pick
up the fixins for Philly Steaks on the way to my daughter Renee’s house. Monte dropped me off and took a ride to
Camping World to return something. When
he returned we ate dinner and watched a movie.
Sunday-And
yet another lazy day—
I just didn’t have the desire to do anything but sit outside
for part of the day working on crossword puzzles and the other part of the day
being a couch potato catching up on some TV shows I had recorded.
Monte
worked on his desk. The wood on the top
had started splitting some months back.
The desk top hadn't split all the way so Monte had to split the last couple of inches.
Monday-Our
last day in Apache Junction.
We stopped
at Walmart on our way to my daughter Renee’s house to pick up pumpkins for my
twin granddaughters Daphne and Kennedy.
Kenney pumped up the tires on her bike and
Daphne’s bike.
Daphne performing a magic act-Grandpa volunteered to be her assistant.
Kenney performing a couple of songs she wrote.
After a couple of hours it was time for the
worst part of our visit-saying goodbye.
