Englewood, FL
Last March, we purchased a satellite dish
and receiver from Camping World. We were
able to use a USB hard drive to record programs. For some reason when we tried to record
during the night we would only get a portion of the program. We had called Dish several times trying to
troubleshoot the issue. Each and every
time we spoke to someone they insisted that the particular model receiver we
owned was not capable of adding an external hard drive.
We patiently explain that we have been
using an external drive for months!
A couple of months ago, during a call to
Dish, the tech offered to swap out the receiver (for a $15 shipping fee). We decided to hold off with the swap until we
were in our winter site.
When we called Dish a few days ago, the
tech offered to send us a new receiver and waived the shipping fee because of the
amount of times we had called in to complain about the issue.
The new (it was actually a refurbished
model) receiver was delivered today.
Monte set it up while I went to the laundry room at the park.
It is conveniently located next to the pool
so rather than walk back and forth when it was time to put the clothes in the
dryer, I stayed at the pool.
While I was at the pool, I met and got to
know several residents.
Meantime, Monte was having a heck of a time
trying to get the new receiver to recognize the hard drive.
After spending several hours on the phone
with Dish, he finally gave up and installed a new hard drive. (That meant we lost all the programs we had
on the old hard drive.)
As a test, we set up a couple of recordings
on the new hard drive. We were able to
watch one of the recordings. The real
test of the new unit will be to see if it successfully records during the night
so we set up a recording for 3AM.
