Englewood, FL
We showed up for our 10:30AM appointment at
the Nissan Dealer on time. Within 20
minutes we were informed that the Jeep did indeed need a new radiator and that
the repair was NOT covered under our 3 month/3,000 mile warranty. Of course it is not covered. BUT, I guess they took pity on us because we
had purchased the vehicle from them less than two weeks ago so they gave us an “in
house” estimate to replace the radiator.
$360!
Monte had already done his homework by
calling the local Dodger Dealer and a local repair shop for estimates. They ranged from $445 to $535 so one may
think we opted to have the work done at Nissan for $360.
BUT Nissan would only guarantee the work at
their dealership so if we had a problem and were no longer in the area we would
be out of luck.
Monte called Dodge to ask if they would
match or come near to Nissan’s estimate and WOW-they did. AND the radiator would be guaranteed at any Dodge/Jeep/Chrysler Dealer.
When Monte dropped the car off at Dodge,
they ran a report on the Jeep and discovered that there were two recalls. One for a filter (that will be replaced at no
cost to us) and the hitch. The hitch is interim,
so it is not available at this time but will be replaced when it does become
available.
After Monte got a ride back home from the
Dodger Dealer courtesy car, he spent a couple of hours scrubbing our
awning.
I’m sure he is going to feel the
pain in his arms tomorrow but it looks great!
