August 18, 2014
Travel day from Lebanon, TN to Wilmore, KY
We set the alarm for 7AM because we had a target departure time of 10AM.
As usual, while I got the inside ready, Monte did all the outside chores including moving some items from his truck into my Jeep and disconnecting the water and electric.
We were over by the dump station by 9:30.  Good timing because during the time it took for him to dump the tanks, three other rigs were in line waiting to use the station.

By 9:45 we were pulling out of the entrance to the park and on our way.
We had gassed up the Jeep Saturday on our way home from Nashville so I had almost a full tank but Monte needed diesel so we stopped at a station that had an easy in/out.  He paid $3.65/gal.  We thought that was a good price until just up the road another station was charging $3.45.  Darn!
Our destination, My Old Kentucky Home SP, was only 160 miles away in Bardstown, KY.
The GPS route took us down narrow country roads until we entered I-65 and then the Bluegrass Parkway.
When we exited the parkway, Monte missed the turn for the campground.  Shortly down the road he noticed a sign for the park’s visitor center. He pulled into the middle turning lane because there was so much traffic while I called the park to ask if we could use the visitor center entrance.  NO, but we were instructed to use that entrance to turn around.
After entering and exiting the visitor center entrance we found the correct entrance for the campground.  I had called earlier in the day to make sure there were open sites.  I was assured there would be no problem for our size to rig.  WELL, most of the sites are geared toward very small RVs and the couple of sites we might have been able to squeeze into were very narrow with the electric box and water connection on the wrong side.
We had only planned on staying one night because we were expected on Tuesday at friends of Monte 60 miles away in Wilmore.  While I called the Walmart near Wilmore to find out if they allow overnight parking, Monte called his friend Bob to let him know what was going on.
Bob said come on down!
Within an hour we were parked in the lot next to his house.

He graciously allowed us to run an extension cord so we even had power.
The parking lot is sloped so much that we had to extent our landing gear the highest we have ever extended them.
Monte told me that during the drive today the transmission on the truck “slipped” a couple of times.  He plans on taking the truck into a nearby Dodge dealer in the morning to get it checked out.  It’s always something.
