Stephen Foster Folk Culture Center State
Park
White Springs, FL
We slept until almost 10AM. After lounging around and then a large
pancake brunch Monte got the bikes off the rack ready for our ride.

We rode around the park for a while and
then stopped in at Cousin Thelma Bolton’s Craft and Gift Shop.
We skipped the Museum and Carillon Tower
because we had already toured it back in November.
The ranger running the gift shop suggested
we take a ride into town. People visited and lived around the sulphur springs on the bank of the Suwannee River for centuries before the town of White Springs was incorporated in 1885.
In 1835, after discovering he felt better while bathing in and drinking the spring's mineral waters, Bryant Sheffield purchased 1,000 acres on the Suwannee River and built a log hotel.

We rode our bikes along the walking tour enjoying the views of some of the beautiful homes.
It was extremely hot and I was beginning to feel a little dehydrated
so I suggested we return to the park.

It had been a great ride but I was happy to get back home--I am really looking forward to some cooler weather as we head north.
