Cape Blanco State Park

Orford, OR
It
was great sleeping in today-we didn’t get up until 9:30.
We
were just lounging around when I looked outside and realized something was
strange. The wind was not blowing the
trees. I opened up the door and was
pleasantly surprised to feel the warmth of the sun.
We had the door open to allow in fresh air. Our cat, Annie, was near the door meowing to come outside.
Monte gave her a much needed brushing. He opened the door when he was finished and she ran back inside.
Just as I was about to start cooking dinner, our lighthouse co-host, Cheryl came over to invite us for dinner. Her husband, Norm, had roasted vegetables on the grill for lasagna that they served with salad and hot bread. The dinner was delicious and the company enjoyable. Norm and Cheryl are going to be our neighbors next month as they are also moving over to Humbug to host camp. We look forward to getting to know them better.
After
a couple of hours we thanked our hosts and departed to take our nightly walk
down to the bluff overlooking the beach.
The Coast Trail.
Within
a few minutes we spotted two whales.
The
opportunity to experience these awesome moments is one of the reasons we choose
to live the lifestyle we are living.
If you squint you might be able to make out the lighthouse in the middle of the picture.
