Cape
Blanco State Park
It
has been raining almost non-stop. As a result we have had an issue with losing
the signal on our tailgater.
Monte
brought the unit inside so he could wipe it down and apply rain.x. We have tried several different locations
with varying results. This time we are
going to try placing it near the road to see if that will be a better location.
After
breakfast, Monte swept off some of the water that has accumulated on our slide
toppers.
It
has been great having so many days off after the exhausting previous week but I
felt cabin fever coming on and suggested a walk when there was a lull in the
rain.
We
have taken the coast trail on the southern side of the cape many times but had
yet to take the northern trail. Since we
are leaving the campground in a few days for our stay at Humbug, we decided to
do the hike down to the shore today.
You might have guessed from the way we are dressed that it was cold and windy.
This cute dog named Precious took a liking to us and followed us down to the shore.
5 days outside of July????
Pacific Banana slug
Kind of gross and cute at the same time.
Facts I didn't know about Banana Slugs before I did my research:
The shell-less gastropod mollusk is a cousin of the snail.
Banana slugs grow six to ten inches.
They can live as long as seven years.
The tentacles on the slug's head are sensory organs.
The eye stems acts like a periscope as they can go up, down and all around.
There are pheromones in the slime that help attract mates. (This is an easy task as they are hermaphrodites, having both male and female reproductive organs,)
