June 3, 2013
Cape Blanco State Park
Port Orford, OR
I had set the alarm for 8am but awoke prior to it going off so I shut it off so it wouldn’t wake Monte.  He woke up in the middle of the night from a stomach ache.  Not wanting to disturb me he sat in the living room for a while.
We were supposed to meet with the other hosts in town for Monday morning breakfast but I couldn’t remember if the meeting time was 9 or 10am.  We arrived at 9:30 just as the others was finishing breakfast.  Almost everyone stayed for awhile to keep us company while we ate.

After breakfast we drove the short distance to the library.  We were able to use the WiFi once we filled out a compliance form.

I watched a couple of shows on Hulu and both Monte and I did some research on the lighthouse in preparation for our first tour on Wednesday.

In the afternoon we took a ride to the Humbug State Park to check out the campground for possible future opportunities.

On the drive back we stopped off an overlook to get some pictures of the beach.

The Visitor Center had been closed yesterday when we had driven around Port Orford so we decided to stop in to pick up brochures but just as we pulled into the parking lot we saw the sign turn from “open” to “closed”.
Gail, who works in the center, noticed our disappointed faces and opened up the center for us.  We appreciated it and gathered up materials as fast as we could so as not to delay her closing.

We took a quick ride up to the lighthouse so I could get some more pictures.
After dinner, we took a walk on the Coast Trail that begins near our site.

It meanders through dense forest and then lets out on the bluffs above the beach until it ends at the road leading to the lighthouse.

I guess I haven’t adjusted to the weather yet because I keep saying, this can’t be June!
