February 9-16, 2014
RV Dreams Boondocking Rally
Arcadia, FL
DAY FIVE
I woke up several times through the night from the wind ruffling the slide toppers—that being said, the noise is not as bad as it was before Monte installed our stabilizers back in May at Lake Mead.
I was pleasantly surprised that I didn’t have a headache from my over imbibing last night.

I looked across the field and noticed Gina getting the tables and cook stoves ready for breakfast.  I quickly got dressed and made my way over to offer assistance.

Gina put me to work at one of the cook stoves.

The wind was really whipping through so Jim was nice enough to drive his rig over to block the wind.

Did you say it was time for seconds?

After breakfast, Howard made a few announcements.    A few people needed water so he was going to use the opportunity to give a demonstration of how to use a water bladder to fill the tanks.
He also said that there would be a trash run so everyone was instructed to bring their bags to the center.

Jean, one the newbie female solo RVers, asked Monte to try to troubleshoot an issue she was having with her generator.
He tried several times to get it started.  When he finally got it going, the generator conked out after a minute.  He was unable to get it started again.  Jean thanked him and said without the generator she was going to have to leave the rally early.  We hugged goodbye but as we were walking away, Monte walked back to try one more thing.
He moved the generator off the hitch and when he pulled the cord, the generator hummed to life immediately.  The generator hadn’t been working because the exhaust had been too close to the trailer.
Jean was delighted.
A potluck dinner was held in the barn.

Linda called people up in small groups.  Monte and I were next to last.
Our contribution was a large pan full of sausage, peppers and onions.
It was a little tight in the barn but it was well worth the squeeze not to have to put up with the high winds outside.
As usual, there were vast amounts and a large variety of food.
After dinner, we chose to skip the campfire.  After switching on the inverter and the satellite we settled in for the evening.
