We had no
idea what trials were in store for us when we woke up this morning. We left Camping World in Calera, AL. About an hour into our traveling towards
Nashville, I was cut off by a car and had to swerve into the next lane. I must have had an angel riding with me because
there was no one in the lane. But I had
a hard time gaining back control of the car as it fishtailed. My heart was racing and my hands were shaking
but I count my blessings that I was able to gain control and continue on.
Shortly
after that incident, as I was following Monte, I had tire tread come at
me. I tried avoiding it but was unable
to and went over it. Then I noticed water pouring out of the back of the
RV. I called Monte to ask him if he had
run over the tire tread also and he said, what tire tread? That is when I started to suspect that maybe
the tire tread was from the RV. I told
him to pull over when it was safe. Sure
enough we lost the tread from one of the RV tires. It also tore a hole in the membrane of the
bottom of the rv as well as the drip hose for the water tank. We were able to go to a close by gas station
and call AAA.
It took the driver, (Travis—a wonderful guy—thanks Travis) to come to our rescue. He only had a floor jack and was unable to raise the R V.
Luckily Monte had a bottle jack that did the trick. In the meantime I had called some RV camps near where we wanted to be in Nashville but the prices were outrageous. So we went to Camping World in Nashville and parked in the parking lot. No services.
This is our first experience Boon docking. (Camping without plugging in and no water) We are a little nervous about what the damage might be but as I keep saying—It is all part of the experience.
