September 9, 2012

We slept great last night probably due to the fact that we were so exhausted from the long day we had yesterday.  I pulled out some waffles from the freezer and toasted them in our toaster oven.  I had brought along my waffle iron and made a big batch last week.

It was a leisurely morning.  I did research on where to stay next week. I am torn between wanting to camp at a State Park where we would be surrounded by nature and going to a private campground where we would have all the amenities.  What to do???

Later today we are heading over the rv repair shop where we have an appointment for tomorrow morning.  We will spend the night in the parking lot.  We had called to make the appointment a couple of weeks ago when we noticed a problem with one of the seals on our big slide.  Since we already had reservations for a rally in nearby Harrisburg we thought this would be a perfect opportunity to have the repair work done.  The rally doesn’t start until September 18th so we have to look for a place for next week.  I am hoping to find a place with a weekly rate so we can stay put for the entire week and just do some local sightseeing and get caught up on some chores.

I wrote down the addresses of a few places and we set out to check them out.  The first one was ok, nothing special and all for $27/night.  The person in the office couldn’t have been more unfriendly.  Almost directly across the road was another place that I had researched and already knew the rate was $21/night.  We drove around the park and I wouldn’t stay there even if was free!

The next place we checked out was really nice but was way too expensive.  We called the campground at Crater Lake and because of Monte’s pass would only cost $15 but we are not sure there will be any spots available because they are having some bicycle event and are expecting over 2,000 cyclists.  At this point it is all moot as we are not sure how long it is going to take at the rv repair shop.

One route to an rv camp we wanted to check out took us down back roads past farms.  We saw a sign advertising fresh produce and decided to check it out.  We were glad we did because we bought just picked corn, huge tomatoes, apples, and raspberries.

After dropping off our purchases we drove to Fred Meyers to do some grocery shopping.  I had never been there before.  It was okay-not much different than Walmart.  Back home I made chicken cutlets, the fresh corn we bought at the farm stand and a salad with delicious tomatoes.

We watched a little tv and went to bed early because we have to be up early for our appointment in the morning.
