From
Lakeview, OR to Winnemucca, NV
It
was so dark and quiet last night-a big contrast from the parking lot we stayed
in at Klamath Falls the previous evening.
While
I got the inside packed and everything stowed, Monte did one of his favorite
chores.
Emptying the black tank.
This
really is a lovely spot.
We
took a break an hour into our trip.
When
Monte mooed at the cattle he was mooed back.
Monte’s
GPS wanted to route us south into California to Reno and then north which would
have added 200 miles to our trip.
We
chose to go the way my GPS directed us.
The
route we took on 140 in Oregon wound around and up mountains.
Up and down.
Up and down.
We entered into Nevada.
There
was NOTHING for miles and miles and miles.
Then all of a sudden there would be a ranch in the distance. Where do these people shop for food?
We
stopped at a rest area and chatted with a couple from Utah who were headed to
Crater Lake on vacation. We gave them
some tips about Crater Lake and they gave us some tips about areas in Utah we
might want to travel to.
Our
original plan was to stop in a town called Battle Mountain. But when I saw there was a Walmart in
Winnemucca I told Monte I wanted to stop traveling for the day. We had only gone 225 miles but it took us 6
hours.
We picked up a few
grocery items in Walmart and then settled in for the night.
