Travel day
from Boydton, VA
To Wake
Forest, NC
We only had
50 miles to travel today so we slept in a little later than we normally would
on a travel day. It was also great to be
able to just take our time packing up.
As usual, I
took care of the inside while Monte took care of the outside.
Once I was done inside I helped him outside
by retracting the rear stabilizer and brought the landing gear up using the
hookup memory level.
It really works
great and takes the guess work out of placement for hitching up.
By 10:30 we
were ready to pull out of the site and make our way to the dump station.
It was
pretty full-----
While Monte
was dumping the tanks, I looked up and noticed that there were a lot of leaves
rolled up in our slide toppers.
OOOPPPS.
It was very
overcast when we departed the park.
The drive
was uneventful–our route taking us through several small, quaint towns.
The address
I entered in the GPS for our destination at Holly Point had us driving a half
mile past the entrance for the park and declaring we have reached our
destination at a location where there was no entrance. So we had to drive another mile down the road
before finding a place to turn around.
When we
arrived at the entrance booth, we received a map with the available sites
highlighted. Monte got in the Jeep with
me to check out the sites.
We chose site 80 in a loop where we are the only
campers.
Even though
there was a large opening our roof top satellite dish could not find a signal
so Monte set up our portable tripod mounted satellite.
In the
evening we walked the short distance to the bathhouse to take showers. Monte let the water run for a while until it
got warm-my shower never got warm so I braved the icy water and took a very
quick shower.
