The rain
finally stopped. It was a pleasant change to wake up to sunny skies. We planned on going to the North Carolina
State Fair, that opened today, but there were showers forecasted for the afternoon
so we decided we would attend the Fair tomorrow.
I have been
contemplating purchasing a FoodSaver for some time because every time I open
one of the freezer compartments to look for something it creates an
avalanche.
There are so
many different models and prices making the decision even more difficult. We quickly eliminated certain models after
reading reviews from customers dissatisfied with the performance.
I suggested
we check out what some of the local stores have available. Earlier in the week we had looked at the
models Walmart and Sam’s Club sells.
Neither store had a model we liked. Our first stop today was at Target.
They had a model that originally sells for $130 but was on sale for $99.99. Not bad. We took some pictures before leaving the store.
We made a
quick stop in at Walgreens to get our flu shots.
Kohl’s had three models. Two of the models were way too big but the
third model was very compact and came with a 5 year warranty. It was on sale for $99.99, a savings of $30 from
the regular price. We knew we would get
at least another 15% off because Kohl’s was giving out scratch offs that
yielded a 15, 20 or 30% discount. We
were pleasantly surprised when we scratched off our ticket and got 30%.
As an
additional bonus we earned $10 in Kohl’s bucks AND there is a $20 mail-in
rebate on the model we purchased. The
rebate began today—how is that for timing?
