Desert Sky
Apache Junction, AZ
Today both Monte and I spent most of the day working on
our computers. Monte is going to install
solar panels by himself.
Last September
when we were in Oregon we brought our rig over to AM Solar so they could give
us an estimate on the solar installation.
While we were waiting for the estimate we took a tour of their facility
and were very impressed with their operation.
BUT the estimated price of the completed installation was WAY over our
budget with almost half going towards labor.
So
after a few months of back and forth discussion and making lists of pros and
cons we have decided in favor of solar because it will give us the flexibility
in choosing places to stay. For me the
deciding factor was how much it has cost us for electricity while staying at our
present location.
Monte
has been in touch with AM Solar because we plan on purchasing most of the
materials from them and the techs have been super helpful. He will be buying the batteries from a local
merchant. He plans on starting the work
within the next week.
I
spent part of the day getting caught up on financials, sorting through receipts
and reconciling bank accounts.
Because
space is limited in our rig, we purchased a Neat Scan machine so that we could
scan the receipts that we wanted to keep.
The first few months I kept up with the scanning on a weekly basis but I
have been lax and haven’t scanned any receipts for a couple of months.
I
also took time out from the computer to bake banana bread.
This is what is left of an entire loaf of banana bread. .
I have used the same recipe many times but
only one time in the convection oven and that didn’t turn out good because I
over baked it. This time I shortened the
baking time and it turned out great.
