Desert Sky
Apache Junction, AZ
We
made plans with my daughter Renee, her partner Deb, and a friend of theirs,
Dennis, to meet up at the Harkins Theater in San Tan Village to see a movie.
I took these pictures on the 202 heading towards Gilbert.
San Tan Village is an open air mall in
Gilbert that in addition to a movie theater has restaurants, shops and office
space.
The movie we chose, Identity Thief, is about
a man (Jason Bateman) who lives in Denver and has his identity stolen by a
woman (Melissa McCarthy) who lives in Florida.
He discovers his credit card has been maxed out when he tries using his
card to buy gas. The man goes to
Florida, finds the woman and convinces her to drive back to Denver with him to
clear his name. The zany car trip is
filled with mishaps and some outrageously funny one-liners.
Dennis,
Renee and Deb were hungry after the movie and suggested going to Johnny Rockets
that is just outside the entrance to the theater. Monte and I had eaten before the movie and
had also shared a large bag of popcorn so we were not hungry but decided to
join the group for maybe a dessert.
When
we walked into Johnny Rockets and saw that it was going to be a long wait we
changed plans and walked the short distance to Famous Dave’s.
Even though we were full, the aroma from the
BBQ made our mouths water when we entered the restaurant.
We were informed it would be a half hour wait
but ended up being only around 20 minutes.
Monte
and I found some things we liked on the dessert menu but opted to share a
Georgia Chopped Pork sandwich accompanied by steak fries and sweet
pickles.
There
were several different types of sauces on the table. The
waiter brought over a couple of bowls of BBQ potato chips and two empty
plates. As he put a sample of each of the
sauces on one of the plates, he described the sauce. By the time he got to the last sauce we could
see that he had made a picture of a pig with the sauces.
Cute gimmick!
The sandwich was delicious.
Renee chose a Turkey Burger
Deb & Dennis went with the Georgia Chopped Pork Platter
It had been another great evening shared with family and friends.
