Desert Sky

Apache Junction, AZ

We decided to take a hike on the spur of the moment to avoid cabin fever.

We headed over to Hieroglyphics Canyon but because we had already done the hike to the Petro glyphs twice we decided to take the Lost Goldmine Trail.

Monte forgot his GPS home so I am not sure exactly how far we walked but I am guessing it had to be close to 6 miles.  We started off on the trail at 1:30 and returned to the parking lot at 4:40.

The hike provided us with several elevation gains and spectacular views.

It was a little chilly when we started off but warmed up enough for me to take off one of my long sleeve tops.

There were several winding turns in the trail.

I really like how this Saquaro appears to be pointing the way.

We came upon a fork in the trail.  One way pointed to a continuation of the Lost Goldmine Trail.

But we chose to take the K Trail to see where it would lead.

We came across this small pool of water.

                And then climbed a hill.

This Saguaro appears to have a seeing eye.

We came across another fork in the trail.

We followed what looked a like an ATV road.

It brought us to the base of this mountain.

It was getting late and we were tired so we started to retrace our steps.

I received a call from my Daddy so I took a little break to chat with him.

This helicopter passed over us a couple of times.

It appeared to us that they were searching for something or someone.
When we got back to the fork in the trail we opted to retrace our steps because we weren't sure where the other trail would lead us.

Monte was happy when we reached the trailhead.
