Desert Sky
(Hyrogliphics Canon Hike)
When we first arrived in
Apache Junction, at the end of November, we had promised to take our twin
granddaughters hiking. Today was the
day.
My daughter Renee picked us up at
10:30
and we drove the short distance to the parking lot on Cloudview Road in
Gold Canyon.
The girls were really
gung-ho.
So much so, that I had to keep
reminding them to slow down.
I was
afraid if they went too fast in the beginning and would get tired too quickly.
And sure enough about half way up the trail
they started complaining they were tired and hungry.
Always Fashionistas, even on the trail.
And their mom became the official pack mule
as she carried not only her own pack but both the girl’s packs as well.
But they persevered and a
mile and a half later we arrived at the Petroglyphs.
Monte and I had hiked this trail back on
January 15. It had been quite
chilly. In fact it had been cold enough
for the water at the pool to freeze.
Today was absolutely beautiful and because it had rained so much the
last couple of months the waterfall was flowing.
We ate our lunch and then
took our shoes and socks off and soaked our feet in the pool.
The girls really loved climbing on the
boulders.
Up and down.
Up and down.
Up and down.
When it was time to leave,
the girls reluctantly dried off their feet and put their shoes back on.
Exploring a cave.
It was quicker going back down the
trail.
Grandpa Monte & Kennedy
I did it!!!
Renee dropped us off at
home so we could take showers and then we went to her house for dinner. We brought the girls back with us for a
sleepover.
We started watching one movie
and within a few minutes they both said it was boring so we switched to
Treasure Buddies and everyone was happy.
